COVID-19 Summer School 2022

In 2021 we worked carefully to make the summer school happen despite the pandemic. Drawing on our experience at Summer School last year as well as in Music Colleges, we have seen how music can take place in conditions that are pretty much nearly normal.

Although the UK COVID situation in 2022 has improved in terms of treatments and availability of vaccines, the virus continues to provide challenges and as we are aware, the UK is currently experiencing another wave. At the same time, self-testing is no longer free and the guidance from government is to take responsibility for our own health and how we might affect others.

This year we can work and play with a sense of normality and reassurance by following the guidance from professional bodies. Whereas in 2021 we operated careful boundaries through daily testing, distancing while playing, not having a choir, sanitisation and ventilation, this year COVID safety will be the personal responsibility of each member of the Summer School community. Good ventilation and appropriate sanitisation are easy to achieve and for details of what we do expect regarding COVID safety and testing, please be sure to click here.

Be assured the intention is to make as much music and fun as possible, while keeping safe without feeling unnecessarily inhibited. We are in a different place this year but rather like playing “Stella by Starlight”, this is handle with care!
